Don't You Switch, We All Switch!
Who Are We WeAllSwitch is just me I'm afraid. My name is David Alderson, 38, married with two children, living in a poorly insulated house in Staffordshire, born in Yorkshire and paying £*@!%* per month in energy bills. I am trying to start something from nothing. I’m trying to take on “big business” with a £25 Internet domain and a few free accounts from Google, Twitter, Facebook and Blogger. Everywhere you see the words US, WE, or OUR on this site I should actually be typing I because at the moment I am the only one who’s administering this. I hope I’ll need to rope in my wife to help shortly. I'll need to talk to some people who are/were in the energy business to advise me on procedural/legal matters if enough people fill out the Stage One Join form. If you can help, especially for free, contact me! Why have I decided to do this? I've been watching the price of fuel going up for years and it just seems to be an endless rise with tiny drops. I'm personally paying a ruddy fortune and have been turning the thermostat down by 1 degree every winter since 2006ish. I thought of doing this a few years ago and bought the site domain WeAllSwitch.com but never got round to doing anything with it due to other commitments. The disingenuous, pathetically trivial price drops which have been revealed with such self-aggrandising fanfare by energy companies in recent weeks have got my goat. I've had enough and I've decided to give this a go. Why am I just using Google Sites/Docs/Mail and not paying for a "proper" site? I'm not setting up some humongous business with the backing of a couple of Angel Investors and start-up capital running into the millions. I've kept the site deliberately simple to allow easy editing and compatibility with most devices. It's also a kind of statement about who I am. The energy companies have deep pockets and can pay for glossy print advertising, sponsorship, TV ads and shiny websites. The bigger ones can buy up competitors and generally rule the roost. I have a free, simple, black and white site with a strong message. I am genuinely a normal bloke living in a semi-detached house in the Midlands trying something out. Join me and let's see if we can make a difference. To keep track of my personal “story” (how cheesy!) you can follow me on my own Twitter and Blogger accounts where I will be candid about the trials and tribulations of getting this unfeasibly large project off the ground.
